GENERAL RULES AND
REGULATIONS
- No exception shall be made to the rules presented in the
Premium Book without action of the Fair Board of
Directors.
- General Rules apply to all exhibits unless special
exceptions appear in the individual department rules.
- All entries must be made on the regular entry blanks of
the Greater Gulf State Fair on or before Thursday
immediately prior to the Fair opening and must be
registered at the proper area prior to being erected.
- ALL BOOTH ENTRIES MUST BE IN PLACE ON THE FAIRGROUNDS ON
THURSDAY IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE FAIR NOT LATER THAN 5
P.M. AND CANNOT BE REMOVED UNTIL MONDAY FOLLOWING THE
FAIR BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:30 A.M. AND 6:30 P.M.
- EXHIBITORS MUST PREPAY FREIGHT AND EXPENSES, AND BILL
SHIPMENTS TO THEMSELVES CARE OF THE GREATER GULF STATE
FAIRGROUNDS.
- Each entry must be made in the name of the bonafide owner
at the time of entry. Any entry made contrary to this
rule will not be allowed to compete and no premium will
be paid.
- ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE REMOVED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:30
A.M. AND 6:30 P.M. MONDAY FOLLOWING THE CLOSE OF THE
FAIR. REGISTRATION STUB MUST BE PRESENTED TO REMOVE YOUR
EXHIBIT.
- Exhibitors will be held responsible for the cleanliness
of their booths. All booths must be in readiness before
opening time each day during the Fair. In case of failure
on the part of the exhibitor to keep the space clean and
orderly, the Fair management may use such means as they
deem advisable.
- The management reserves the right to reject any entry
offered by any exhibitor, and any entry offered is with
the distinct understanding that same is subject to the
general and special rules as promulgated by the Fair
management.
- Decorations, signs, cabinets, shelving, counters, etc.,
and arrangements of exhibits must conform to the wishes
of management and local and state fire laws.
- Space assigned and not occupied by 6:00 p.m. Thursday
immediately prior to the Fair may be forfeited, as well
as any fees previously paid.
- Lots in which only one exhibitor make entry, only one
premium will be paid (first, second, or third premium as
the exhibit merits -- and if the EXHIBIT IS NOT WORTHY OF
AN AWARD, NONE WILL BE MADE. JUDGES WILL NOT AWARD
PREMIUMS TO ANY EXHIBIT BECAUSE OF MERE PRESENCE.
- Premiums will be mailed to the exhibitor at the address
given on the entry form after the close of the Fair.
Please give address when registering exhibits. Errors in
premium payments will not be considered after November 30th,
after which time the books are closed and any unpaid
premiums are forfeited to the Fair. All checks not cashed
within 60 days of date of issue are void.
- Only one entry per person will be accepted in any lot
unless otherwise specified.
- All departments are open to any person in the Greater
Gulf State Area unless notice is made under the class in
Premium Book.
- The owner or custodian of property of any kind, including
automobiles brought to the Fairgrounds, either for
exhibit or for other purposes, as a condition of its
admission to the grounds, assumes all risk of and
responsibility for its loss, damage or theft. While
reasonable precautions will be taken for safeguarding all
property on the Fairgrounds, the Fair and its officers
and employees cannot and will not accept responsibility
of liability for damage or injury resulting from theft,
fire, the elements, accidents or other conditions or
causes, beyond its control. The Greater Gulf State Fair
will not be responsible for damages or losses that may
occur.
- NO ADVERTISING IN ANY EXHIBIT SPACE WILL BE PERMITTED
OTHER THAN BY THOSE EXHIBITORS OCCUPYING COMMERCIAL SPACE
UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.
- Begging, soliciting or public speaking are positively
prohibited on the Fairgrounds.
- The Fair reserves the right to change judges without
notice and to add or delete classes as warranted.
- Judges have been carefully selected. All persons making
entries accept these judges and agree to abide by their
decisions. If, in the opinion of the judges, the exhibit
is not worthy, no premium will be awarded. JUDGES
DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
- Protest on any grounds other than judging will be
adjusted by the Fair Management and their decisions will
be final.
- Permission for the use of sound producing or amplifying
equipment must be obtained from the Fair Management. Such
equipment must not cause annoyance or inconvenience to
other exhibitors, concessionaires or visitors.
- PARTICIPATION BY EXHIBITORS OUTSIDE THE PHYSICAL SPACE
ALLOTTED THEM WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
- The Fair Management reserves the right to amend or add to
these rules as they, in their judgment, deem advisable.
- No persons other than judges and show chairmen will be
allowed in the exhibit area during the hours of judging.
- Age Classification: Your age as of the opening day of the
Fair.
- All exhibits must be the original work of the exhibitor
and must have been done since the last Greater Gulf State
Fair unless otherwise specified.
- Work exhibited at previous Greater Gulf State Fairs will
not be accepted.
- Exhibitors assume all responsibility for placing and
removing their exhibits. All display materials such as
tables, placards, models and other articles are to be
provided by the exhibitor.
- Work deemed controversial will be judged by not
displayed.
- Unless otherwise stated, first three places will receive
ribbons.
- Preparation and/or distribution of food by exhibitors
will not be allowed without the express written consent
of Fair Management.
- Decisions of Fair Management are final.
- Each exhibitor is solely responsible for entering their
exhibit in the correct category. Any exhibit deemed by
the judges to be entered in the wrong category shall be
disqualified.
- Entry of an exhibit signifies acceptance of all rules and
regulations.

ATTENTION EXHIBITORS &
CONCESSIONAIRES
| PASS POLICY |
All persons entering the
Fairgrounds for any reason whatsoever will be required to
surrender a ticket or have their pass cancelled by the
gate attendant. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. Passes may
be obtained as per the Fair's Overall Pass Policy or MAY
BE PURCHASED THROUGH THE Fair Ticket Office as needed.
Proper identification will be required. Those persons
desiring to leave with the intent of returning
immediately may have their hand stamped by the guard at
the proper gate, except during Midnight Madness Hours. |
| PASS PICKUP |
Passes may be obtained
Tuesday through Thursday propr to Fair opening from 6:00
P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on opening Friday from 11:00 A.M.
to 1:00 P.M. |
| EXHIBIT REMOVAL POLICY |
No exhibit shall be removed
in whold or in part during the period of the Fair.
Exhibits which are not claimed by Monday after the Fair
closes will be considered abandoned and will be disposed
of as the Fair Management sees fit. |
| PREMIUMS AND AWARDS POLICY |
Premiums and Awards will be
made only for those categories and departments listed in
the 1998 Premium Book. Premiums will be paid on the basis
of the Judging Report Only. RIBBONS WILL NOT BE USED AS A
BASIS FOR PAYMENT OF PREMIUMS SINCE THEY OFTEN BECOME
DETACHED FROM THEIR PROPER PLACE. |
| PAYMENT OF PREMIUMS |
Premiums will be mailed to
the exhibitor after the close of the Fair to the address
given on the entry form. Errors in Premium payments will
not be considered after November 30th. PREMIUM
CHECKS MUST BE CASHED WITHIN 60 DAYS OF DATE OF ISSUANCE. |
| DELIVERY PERMIT POLICY |
Arrangements must be made
through the Fair Business Office for permission to
purchase this Permit. Vehicles making deliveries on the
Fairgrounds during the period of the Fair must obtain a
Permit. Vehicles bearing a Delivery Permit will be
allowed within the inner enclosure of the Fairgrounds at
those times specified by Fair Management. To insure the
safety of our Fair visitors, those making deliveries are
referred to the Gate Policy. Deliveries shall not be made
after the gates have been locked. |
| GATE POLICY |
EXHIBITOR AND DELIVERY GATES
WILL BE LOCKED NO LATER THAN ON HOUR BEFORE REGULARLY
SCHEDULED FAIR OPENING. Any vehicle inside the grounds
after the gates are locked will remain parked until the
gates reopen approximately one hour after the ticket
office closes for the night. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. |
| GROUNDS MOTOR TRAFFIC POLICY |
THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO
MOTOR TRAFFIC ON THE GROUNDS DURING OPERATIONAL HOURS.
(AUTHORIZED VEHICLES ARE: SECURITY VEHICLES, EMERGENCY
VEHICLES, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES. OTHERS MUST BE
APPROVED BY THE FAIR BUSINESS OFFICE BEFORE MOVEMENT.) |

Alabama Department Of Agriculture, Agriculture Center Board are
co-sponsors of this year's Greater Gulf State Fair and pay a
